A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

First aired on 20th November 1973, "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" is an Emmy Award winning animated TV special that is based on the popular comic strip Peanuts, created by Charles M Schulz. Since 2007, it is aired every November on television. It starts with Lucy van Pelt with enticing Charlie Brown to kick the football she's holding. Remindful of their previous episodes, Charlie refuses to do so, suspecting her to pull away just when he'll be an inch away from kicking the ball. But after her assurance that this is a Thanksgiving tradition and she won't pull away, Charlie charges towards the football. Lucy once again pulls away and Charlie ends up falling on his back, yet again.

Later, just when Charlie Brown and her baby sister Sally are preparing to go their grandmother's for the Thanksgiving dinner, Charlie receives a phone call from one of his friends, Peppermint Patty, who ends up inviting herself over for Thanksgiving dinner at Charlie's place. Within minutes and two phone calls later, Patty invites Marcie and Franklin to the dinner at Charlie's place. With thoughts leaving his brains, Charlie finds himself in a spot of bother as he speculates how to proceed next until Linus van Pelt, brother of Lucy, shows up. Linus advices Charlie to go for two dinners: one which he'll host for Patty and her friends, and the other one at his grandma's place.

Charlie Brown nods to the proposal and with the help of Linus, who recruits Snoopy and Woodstock to help Charlie and Linus with the food and setting up a ping pong table and chairs in the backyard, for the dinner. Soon after, the guests arrive and make their way to the dinner table in the backyard. Since all that Charlie knows is to make cold cereal and buttered toast, the menu at the dinner table ends up being slices of butter toasts (two for each person), some pretzel sticks, handful of popcorn, and a few jelly beans. Shocked to see such a menu for Thanksgiving, Patty's fuse blows up and she lashes out at Charlie. Feeling embarrassed, Charlie leaves the dinner table and goes inside the house.

Patty's outrage continues until Marcie quietly reminds her that Charlie didn't invite her to the dinner, but she invited herself. Realizing her mistake, Patty immediately apologizes to Charlie. Having lost the track of time among all this mayhem, Charlie soon realizes that he and Sally were to go to their grandma's place for Thanksgiving dinner at 4. Charlie calls her grandma to let her know what had happened and that he and Sally will be a little late for dinner. Upon hearing this, grandma asks him to bring all his friends over for the Thanksgiving dinner at her place. After they leave, Snoopy and Woodstock go to the dog house and prepare their own traditional Thanksgiving dinner that includes a turkey with all the trimmings. Credits roll soon after, both shown happy and content, with Woodstock shown patting his full stomach.
